Madeleine Maxwell, as written by Jodi Taylor, is a hot mess. She’s a historian working in a unique organization who has the unique ability to turn everything wrong. And yet, she’s brilliant, funny, and altogether endearing, as are the other characters at St. Mary’s.

This is a banging good romp in print and on audio. It’s lighthearted but smart as a whip. Taylor has a great sense of pace and suspense. I will most certainly be moving on to book two in the series – perhaps even tonight!
